Session Access and Participation Rules

A session is a shared workspace where all participants see the same cards and changes. A session is created automatically when you enter, and the host gets control over session settings.

What it is

Core elements

  • Session code: a short 6-character code used to join.
  • Invite link: a URL with the code that you can send to others.
  • Host role: can change deck and room settings and end the session.
  • Participants: join via link or code and work with the cards.
  • Close session button: a small "X" button in the top-right corner of the session card, visible only to the host.

Participation rules

  • Everyone sees changes in real time.
  • Only the host can change session settings.
  • When the host ends the session, all participants are disconnected.

How to use

Steps for the host

  1. Open the session panel and copy the invite code or link.
  2. Send the link or code to participants.
  3. If needed, end the session to start a new one.

Closing a session (host only)

  1. Click the "X" button in the top-right corner of the session card.
  2. A confirmation modal will appear with options:
  3. Save screenshot: toggle this option to save a screenshot of the current table before closing.
  4. Download: if screenshot is enabled, downloads the image to your device.
  5. End session: closes the session and disconnects all participants.
  6. Stay: cancels and keeps the session open.

Closing disconnects everyone

When you close a session, all participants will be disconnected immediately. Make sure to save any important work before closing.

Steps for a participant

  1. Open the link or click "Join" and enter the 6-character code.
  2. Wait until the status changes to "Connected".
  3. Work with cards together with the host.

Switching sessions

When you try to join a different session while already in one, a confirmation dialog appears:

  1. The dialog warns you that switching will clear your current work.
  2. Save screenshot option: toggle this to save a screenshot of your current table before switching.
  3. Switch: confirms the switch and takes you to the new session.
  4. Cancel: keeps you in the current session.

Save your work

Always enable the screenshot option before switching sessions if you want to keep a record of your current layout.

Scenarios

  • Quick invite: share the link and the participant joins immediately.
  • Return later: save the code or link and reuse it.
  • Switch sessions: choose "Join another session" and enter a new code.
  • End and restart: host closes the session and creates a new one for a fresh start.

Tips and errors

  • If the code is rejected, check the length (6 characters) and keyboard layout.
  • Switching sessions clears current cards and notes, but you can save a table screenshot before moving on.
  • If the host ended the session, create a new one.
  • The close session button is only visible to the host - participants cannot end sessions.
